Two "New" books for the Chicago Astronomer Library

I'm not one to follow the herd and rush to buy the hot space/astro book out...but rather wait until they find me.
At a recent vist to a used book shop, they have a good astro selection section - I could easily drop a c-note. But I try to limit myself to a couple at most per visit. I filtered through a bunch and settled on these two for now. It wasn't easy, but I use a app on my Smartphone to scan the barcode and read a bit about the book I'm interested in and especially the reviews. Readers liked these two sections and I got them for cheap.
"Last Man on the Moon" - I am interested in Cernan's account of his experiences and from what I head about the reviews, it's one of the best in terms of what it was like to fly the mission.
"Lost Moon" - We have all seen the movie and know of the incident aboard Apollo 13. But here we have an insight from the Capt himself and Lovell's own thoughts of what happened.
Don't know when I'll have the time to get through both of these, but a review when I do.

I read both of those a while ago. I thought they were both very good.

I have started "Last man on the Moon", while at the Dr's office for Mom...and going thru the chapters, leading up up to Cernan's Gemini mission, was a delight to read.
The Astronaut selection process was an interesting one...and his never ending job at the "Tanks" op in mission control is amusing.
In reading, I have discovered that Cernan...lived close to me on Hoyne Ave... and was born at St. Anthony's Hospital, also close to me.
Very cool.
I anticipate the continuing read.

Forgive me, Paulie, but that strikes me as a truly weird statement. Are you serious when referring to a game played by people other than Cernan or yourself? Is your odd concern that Cernan is not primarily a fan of the White Sox, or is it something about good Chicagoans whose fathers taught them to mainly root for the Cubs that bothers you? I wish both Chicago teams and their fans well, although the Cubs are the team for which I have the greater interest.
