Chicago Astronomers enjoy Opening Day at White Sox Park 13 April 2012 (All ribbing and jabbing - White Sox vs Cubs - is all in good fun and all good Chicago Astronomers support all our home teams - ) I had the great opportunity to snag seats for the 2012 Chicago White Sox opener and invited two hard working Chicago Astronomers to join me - Barbara and Paulie. Pauile, a die-hard Sox fan was a no brainer, but Barbara is true to the north side ball team supporter. Having her checkout what a championship team feels like was fun... Borrowing a White Sox jacket from Maria, I was set. We arrived separately and met at the monument with plenty of time of ballpark hot dogs and finding our seat. We had a military ceremony before the game... Throughout the day, I bumped not only into friends, but fans of the Chicago Astronomer... Now, I'm not a hard core baseball fan, so referring to both Paulie and Barbara for guidance was imperative. Learned much... I brought along the 15x70 for In-your-face- views of the play... ...and of course, all good Astronomers share their equipment... Maria, took some time away from her White Sox office and stopped by to join us for a short bit... I must say, that Detroit blew chunks, sloppy play...bringing joy to White Sox fans.. Pauile brought along a paperback for his ride on the Metra... ...I felt compelled to open it. Speaking of Chicago Astronomer Paulie... The judgmental tat that he sports was a hit in our area, stripping to display the poor performance opinion of the "Other team"... ... logistically....I can't debate it - despite Barbara's rejection. Sox win this game 5 - 2 continuing a early season winning streak Yay! #Yay# I had never been to a opening day game before and this was an experience for me - having two friends along made it even better...!

Go Cubs! I know; it's a rebuilding year for our guys. But they needed an honorable mention here. I hope your guys do Chicago proud this year. Our time is coming.

1) I parked in Indiana, which, coincidentally, is actually the closest place to park when going to wrigley. 2) Why do Sox fans and Bridgeport get the bad reputation? I can't remember hearing of a murder after a game.http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2004-....ctim-pedestrian

Wrigleyville = one massive urinal trough. It's the angst of endless defeat and understandable.

I grew up in the fine Lakeview neighborhood which includes Wrigley Field. My father taught me to acknowledge the White Sox as our favorite team in another league, even though he instilled in me that our family's true heartfelt favorites are the Cubs. I wrote respectfully of the Sox in my first post in this thread. Yet you come up with this, Joe. I resign my membership in the Chicago Astronomers which should be renamed the Exclusively Southside Astronomers.

Finally the Sox beat Detroit again. Seemed like they hadn't beat the Tigres since Opening Day.
