Just yesterday, something new was discovered by a citizen astronomer using a 7" Reflector in Japan... one of the most light polluted regions of the world.

A Nova has been discovered...and pretty bright too!



Blazing at magnitude 6.8, it is just under naked eye visibility and should be an easy target in Chicago Astronomer telescopes and even in binoculars.

I will attempt to target this Nova during our Chicago Astronomer Star Party this evening from our observation site by the Adler Planetarium building.

This is a rare event and all that are able to, should view this fleeting moment in a Star's life...as it dies and returns it's matter back into space.

Gotta wonder....how many civilizations did it take with it?
