I'm excited about the opening of the exhibition for tonight and Emily's project.

I'll be in attendance and take pics of the event.

Look who's got Culture!

With the threat of showers and the temps in the 80s for March, Maria and I went Downtown to view the Emily Fuhrman project - included in the mass exhibition on the 7th floor at the School of the Art Institute. Hundreds of artists and visitors jam packed the floor... and it took a little time seek out Emily's work...but she did mention to me earlier this week when we met at the Adler and took in two sky shows....



...that her piece was displayed in a side room. I found it soon enough and found our art hanging beautifully...



The entire wall reserved just for our piece.

Impressed!

And there...was my Jupiter pic of last year - taken right off of my garage and capturing a beautiful GRS for us through the mighty C11 beast. Emily soon arrived to meet me and we chat about the piece...



I was the only local Astronomer with a representation on the board. The others renditions were of NASA images of: the surface of Mars, a Neutron star and gravitational lensing of galaxies...

Emily's husband flew in for the exhibit and joined us...



Emily says that her instructor had good things to say about her work and has been receiving good critique feedback. The massive crowds that came by to view were thick and many...



...and I had a difficult time maneuvering around to grab a quick shot. We had discussed about the opportunity to set-up a scope outside on the sidewalk...but I would not have the logistics this evening to accomplish this for the event. Too bad really, as it would have been a great public session with the hundreds of people present - and with the Jupiter/Venus conjunction going on.

I am honored and thrilled to have been part of her art exhibition, (a first for me), and wish Emily all the best in her artistic career....
